Jaguars vs. Bills NFL Week 5: Buffalo would tie NFL record with at least 28-point victory in London

The Jacksonville Jaguars will become the first #NFL team to ever play back-to-back games in London when they host the red-hot Buffalo Bills on Sunday from Tottenham Hotspur Stadium with a 9:30 a.m. ET kickoff only available on the NFL Network. Buffalo is currently a 5.5-point “home” favorite and would tie a decades-old mark with a blowout win.

Looking at the way the #BillsMafia are rolling now, it seems almost incomprehensible they lost Week 1 at the New York Jets, who haven’t won since. Buffalo has since trashed Las Vegas 38-10, Washington 37-3, and then Sunday routed what had been a scorching-hot Miami team 48-20 behind five total touchdowns from Josh Allen, who is the new MVP betting favorite at all major books.

Josh Allen lost last time he faced Jacksonville.

Buffalo is the 19th team in league history to win three straight games by at least 28 points and the first to do it directly following a Week 1 loss. The 1942 Chicago Bears are the only team in NFL history to win four straight games by at least 28 points. The 1921 Buffalo All-Americans were the first club to ever win three straight by that many.

In the win over Miami, Allen was 21 of 25 passing for 320 yards and four touchdowns with no interceptions for a 158.3 rating and added one rushing touchdown. He became only the second player in NFL history with at least 300 passing yards, four touchdown passes, one rushing touchdown and a 158.3 passer rating – the highest attainable mark – in a game, joining Aaron Rodgers in Week 7 of 2019. Allen also became the fourth quarterback in NFL history with 40 career rushing touchdowns, joining Cam Newton (75), Steve Young (43) and Jack Kemp (40).

Allen leads the NFL in total touchdowns (10), completion percentage (76.6%) and passer rating (125.8) during the three-game win streak. The Bills did take a major hit Sunday with the season-ending injury suffered by former Pro Bowl cornerback Tre’Davious White. He has the lowest passer rating allowed (48.3) as a primary defender since 2017 among 32 defenders targeted at least 400 times in that span.

Is it likely that the Bills beat the Jaguars by at least 28? No. While that Jacksonville offense has been struggling (20.0 ppg), the defense has been very solid (20.5 ppg).

Jacksonville won at Wembley Stadium in London on Sunday, 23-7, as the home team.

The club is staying in London all week and owner Shad Khan is on board with make this a two-game trip annually. There had been talk the Jags might move overseas but now they are getting new stadium built in Jacksonville.

The Jags will have to switch hotels this week and now are the road team. They are 1-0 at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium all-time (beat Miami 23-20 in 2021) and 5-5 in international games.

#DUUUVAL has an 8-6 SU record as an underdog since start of last season, the most wins in the NFL including playoffs. The last meeting vs. the Bills was a 9-6 upset win in 2021 as a 15.5-point underdog. That remains the largest upset in NFL over the last 3 seasons.
