Eagles vs. Rams NFL Week 5: Jalen Hurts can tie modern-era record with 11th straight road win
The Philadelphia Eagles have not looked like defending NFC champions all that often in the early going, but they are still one of three #NFL unbeatens standing at 4-0 as they visit the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday as 4-point favorites. Philly quarterback Jalen Hurts is 21-1 in his past 22 starts overall and hasn’t lost a road game since Week 12 of the 2021 season. He has never faced the Rams.
Hurts’ 10-game regular-season road winning streak is one shy of matching Kansas City’s Patrick Mahomes for the longest streak since 1950 by a starting QB age 25 or younger. It’s already the longest streak by an Eagles starting QB since 1950. In those 10 road games, Hurts is averaging 244.8 yards passing with 19 total TDs and two picks.

The Eagles did lose Week 16 in Dallas last year, but Hurts was injured and Gardner Minshew started. Hurts also can become only the fifth quarterback since 1950 to go 22-1 in a 23-start span with a win Sunday. Including playoffs, the #FlyEaglesFly have scored at least 25 points in seven straight games, tied for the second-longest streak team history. They are set at Over/Under 27.5 points for Sunday.
Philadelphia has made the Super Bowl each of the prior two times it started 4-0 (2022, 2004) and can become the first Super Bowl loser since the Buffalo Bills in 1991 to start 5-0 the following season.
Rams receiver and former NFL Offensive Player of the Year Cooper Kupp has missed the first four games on IR. On Wednesday, the club officially designated Kupp to return, meaning Kupp can begin practicing with the club immediately and the Rams will have 21 days to activate him onto the active roster. Not clear if he will play Sunday.
From 2021-22, Kupp accounted for 29.2% of the Rams’ receptions, 32.8% of the Rams’ receiving yards & 38.6% of the Rams’ receiving TDs. In his place, fifth-round rookie Puka Nacua leads the NFL in receptions (39) & targets (52). He is on pace for 165 receptions which would shatter the league record of 149 set by the Saints’ Michael Thomas in 2019.
#RamsHouse is 3-0-1 ATS in its past four at home but QB Matthew Stafford is 1-10 SU and 3-7-1 ATS in his past 11 as a home dog.
